He will explain how Illinois Yearly Meeting came to be in the 1860s and 1870s and the Friends who organized it. He will explore the challenges they faced in trying to adjust their vision of Quakerism to a changing world. And finally, he will speculate about what lessons their experiences hold for us today. Tom is member of West Richmond Friends Meeting in Richmond, Indiana, and currently the clerk of the New Association of Friends. He has retired as Professor of History and Director of Special Collections at Earlham College . A separate\r\n      Children's Sessions Registration Form should be filled out for each child.<\/p>\r\n    <h2>Wee Friends through Middle School<\/h2>\r\n    <p><strong>Morning Program<\/strong>: Small age-appropriate groups with two\r\n      teachers, developed to be meaningful while giving children an opportunity\r\n      to connect with other Friends of their age. During this time parents can\r\n      attend Meeting for Business.<\/p>\r\n    <p><strong>Afternoon Program<\/strong>: A variety of activities on different\r\n      days include a craft and art tent, swimming, recreation on the lawn, and\r\n      all-ages workshops. During this time adults can participate in workshops\r\n      and\/or worship sharing.<\/p>\r\n    <p><strong>Evening Programs<\/strong>:\u00a0 Intergenerational programs on\r\n      Wednesday, Thursday with a children's program on Thursday for younger\r\n      children. Friday evening is all-ages folk dancing on the lawn.Campfires\r\n      with s\u2019mores and songs\u00a0 on Saturday.\u00a0 During this time parents\r\n      can attend the evening plenary programs.<\/p>\r\n    <p><strong>Sunday Morning Program<\/strong>: All children participate in the\r\n      Epistles Reading. Middle Schoolers attend the Plummer Lecture and Sunday\r\n      Meeting for Worship. After the Epistles Reading, 5th grade and under will\r\n      be supervised by the babysitters\/childcare and join everyone for the last\r\n      minutes of worship.<\/p>\r\n    <p><br> <\/p>\r\n    <p><strong>Babysitting and Childcare<\/strong> <br>\r\n      Babysitting and childcare will be available for children too young to\r\n      attend Children\u2019s Sessions programs. Additionally, babysitting and\r\n      supervised play area time will be available during morning Meeting for\r\n      Worship (8:00-9:00 am) and worship sharing and workshop time (1:15-4:00\r\n      pm). Please consult the schedule at the check-in\/registration table for a\r\n      full listing of times and programs.<\/p>\r\n    <p><br><\/p>\r\n    <h2>Expectations for Young Friends &amp; Families<\/h2>\r\n    <p>In an effort to make Annual Sessions a joyful spiritual experience for\r\n      all Friends, the following guidelines are intended to clarify expectations\r\n      during our time together.<\/p>\r\n    <p>Parents\/sponsors are responsible for supervision of their child\/children\r\n      during all times, except for Children\u2019s Sessions. Parents\/sponsors\r\n      supervision includes meals, all-ages programs, and overnight. On the south side of \u201cQuaker Lane\u201d is\r\n      the meetinghouse, parking areas, several large tents, a farmhouse, and\r\n      several outbuildings. The tents are used for the children\u2019s programs,\r\n      workshops, and outdoor dining. On the north side of the road is a\r\n      campground which includes a parking area, a showerhouse, space for tents,\r\n      6 small cabins, and buildings used for High School and Middle School\r\n      Friends.<\/p>\r\n    <p>Annual Sessions is primarily planned and managed by volunteers, so we ask\r\n      everyone to pitch in. All Friends over age 10 are asked to sign up for at\r\n      least two volunteer jobs during Annual Sessions, which might include\r\n      helping during a meal, cleaning a bathroom, or helping with childcare or\r\n      the children\u2019s programs. Volunteer sign-up sheets are located near the\r\n      registration table.<\/p>\r\n    <p>Please do not bring pets. Do not smoke in the buildings or on the grounds\r\n      (including campground). Keep noisy activities away from Friends who need\r\n      quiet. A daily fee has been\r\n      calculated related to the cost of holding sessions and an estimated number\r\n      of adults attending sessions, additionally a daily fee has been calculated\r\n      for those only attending sessions virtually. Individuals with specific needs (e.g., mobility issues, small children, cannot camp, CPAP, other special reasons) will be given preference for cabins.
