Katrina Baugh, a community organizer with The People’s Lobby, will facilitate a virtual teach-in on the Pretrial Fairness Act, the portion of the SAFE-T Act that will end money bond in Illinois. The teach-in will be held on Saturday, April 8 at 2:00 p.m. (Central) via Zoom. If the Pretrial Fairness Act is implemented, money will no longer be a determining factor in whether someone is free pending trial. The teach-in will review the main aspects of the legislation, the connection between reducing pretrial incarceration and racial justice, the current legal challenges to the Pretrial Fairness Act and how you can get involved.
