The 2021 ILYM Women and Gender Minorities Weekend will be held April 23 and 24, virtually. It will be a time of fellowship, fun and spiritual renewal. The focus of the weekend will be the program, “Who are we and where do we go from here?” presented by Katie Breslin.
Program overview
As our world changes rapidly, it is easy to get lost in the shuffle of the chaos of the moment. This last year has brought many of us loneliness, unsettledness and even just really in need of a hug. When COVID-19 kept many of us physically apart, it was through zoom and other video services that we found our way to be with one another. With the rise in activism of the Black Lives Matter movement and other social justice movements, many are asking the question: “What does this mean for our dedication to justice?”
During ILYM Women’s Weekend this year, attenders are going to take a moment to think about who they are. It is not often that we can settle away from all of the noise and focus on the excitement of the moment and grieve the ways the world has changed. To understand who we are, as a community, it is important to assess who we have been and what our values are going forward.
In this workshop, Katie will lead a series of worship sharing activities to get at the core of these questions of identity. Long-time ILYM Women’s Weekend attendees will share stories and memories of this gathering, and all attenders will look to the future about what this community may do next.
